Elon Musk got a major seat at State Farm Stadium for Super Bowl LVII. Fox Sports cameras captured the dissident billionaire sitting with Fox Corp. and News Corp. Rupert Murdoch as well as his daughter, producer and investor Elisabeth Murdoch.
Fox cameras caught a shot of the starry group in the stadium’s sky square about midway through the third quarter of the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have dominated most of the game so far although the Chiefs are keeping the contest going.
The fleeting shot of Rupert Murdoch during the Super Bowl broadcast by the broadcast network he launched in 1986 may have been strategically placed to reassure Wall Street and others that the media mogul was still alive despite his 91-year-old age. The Australian-born media baron will turn 92 on March 11th. He seems to be involved in the most American activity: eating hot dogs.
But the sight of an older and younger Murdoch with Musk is sure to spark a flurry of speculation about potential activity between Murdoch’s businesses and Musk’s many investments. Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in October was largely a disaster, as the social media platform saw an exodus of employees and ad hoards.
Based in the UK, Elisabeth Murdoch is the Head of Sister Content Logo division with partners Stacy Snyder (former head of 20th Century Fox film studio) and British producer Jane Featherstone.
