Now that his name has been cleared – buy it or not “he ate a lot of eggs and that’s why he failed a drug test”, Conor Bean is looking to restart his career ASAP. The British welterweight is expected to take his show on the road, and there is talk of a potential fight with “retired” living legend Manny Pacquiao in Abu Dhabi.
But the undefeated Penn got into a war of words with welterweight champion Errol Spence. Spence, who holds all the belts at 147 pounds, went to war with Ben on social media this week, with the two exchanging nasty insults. Spence is currently training, we suspect, for a fight with Keith Thurman, but the WBA, IBF and WBC champion found the time to respond to the message Bean sent him.

“ErrolSpenceJr you’ve been talking to over…….well I’ve been reinstated to the WBC. I’ll take you next! You’re worried about dealing with your leadership convictions.” Wanker wrote.
Spence, of course, was involved in two car crashes. Spence responded, 28-0 (22) in a 21-0 (14) between.
“Drinks and PED are two different things, the difference between you and me I owe because you’re a cheat like my dad,” Spence wrote.
Then Spence sent a follow-up message:
“Fighters in the top 5 should only do drug testing year round. Make it mandatory to even get the Top 5 and Top 10 to have at least random drug testing annually with hair testing once a year.”
A lot of people are of course unhappy with the reason put forward for Ben testing positive for clomiphene, and Spence is clearly among those who don’t accept it. Spence is a level or two above Benn at the moment, but maybe that potential grudge could happen one day down the road. But maybe you’re not sure if Bean deserves the huge paychecks that would go along with such a fight? It’s probably going to take a while for the Benn name to go back on well with all fight fans – if that happens at all.
Despite this, Spence goes too far when he refers to Ben’s father as a cheater. Nigel Penn has never taken any illegal stimulants during his career, at least no one knows.
