F1 insider claims Aston Martin ‘overrated’ as fans ‘pay attention’ to a different team | F1 | sports

A Formula 1 insider has claimed Aston Martin’s AMR23 is overrated and has allegedly told fans to watch out for the Alps this year. The new F1 season is set to start this weekend in Bahrain, with Red Bull ace Max Verstappen and Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton among the favorites to win the title.

Aston Martin finished seventh in the Constructors’ Championship last season, having accumulated 55 points. Sebastian Vettel had 10 top 10 finishes over the course of the season, while his teammate Lance Stroll finished eight races in the top 10.

Four-time world champion Vettel retired from Formula 1 at the end of last year, with two-time winner Fernando Alonso coming in to replace him. But Vettel has been tempted to stand Stroll for the time being after the Canadian injured his wrist while cycling and was forced to miss pre-season testing.

The British team will be looking to improve this year and move up the world rankings. But, according to an F1 reporter Alessandro ArcariHowever, an Aston Martin insider claimed their car was “overrated” and that Vettel was “never approached” to fill in for Stroll. And the same insider told people to “watch out” for the Alps.

“It refines solutions that we felt would deliver us the best performance, and embodies the shared vision that we have embraced and built together over recent months. Now we need to focus on delivering an ambitious and effective program of updates for the first race and throughout the remainder of the season.”

Alonso added: “As we launch the car at this all-new factory, I think everyone can now see the scale of ambition and determination at the heart of this organization. Just as important as the car – and the AMR23 looks neatly packaged and highly efficient. I was pleasantly surprised when I sampled the Car of the Year Past for the first time, and I think there’s a lot of performance we can unlock together.”
