Preparation for this weekend’s Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia is in full swing as Lewis Hamilton aims to rebound from his disappointing fifth-place finish in Bahrain one last time out by aiming for a podium finish on the streets of Jeddah. It looks like Mercedes will struggle to challenge Red Bull on a consistent basis over the course of this season, with the Austrian team clearly the fastest team on the grid after their pole-two finish in Bahrain earlier this month. “It hurt the team as a whole, after so much hard work had been put into a car that didn’t meet our expectations,” read the letter, which was published in the wake of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
“And we know it hurts you, our fans too. Your passion and support are very important in moving us forward – and we know we feel the same pain. We won’t panic or react unexpectedly. In a spotlight as fierce as Formula 1, people are quick to point fingers, or Looking for a scapegoat. But you know us better than that.”
