Red Bull boss Helmut Marko has cast doubt on rumors that Mercedes could be replaced by Aston Martin as an official entry to the works.
Reports from Germany suggest that unless the Silver Arrows make major improvements over the coming weeks, Aston Martin will become the favored team to receive Mercedes engines.
However, Marco does not agree with the claims.
“Why should you make Mercedes a stronger competitor? It doesn’t make sense,” he told Sport1. “For all this collaboration: at the end of the day, Aston Martin is Mercedes’ competitor in the passenger car segment.
“Mercedes will now do everything they can to make the season opener, which was so disappointing for them, forgettable. In this ambitious undertaking there is certainly no place for Aston Martin to help.”
