Lando Norris has admitted McLaren’s issues began on the first lap in Bahrain.
Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle discovered the extent of McLaren’s problems after a private conversation with Norris after the race.
Brundle said the 23-year-old had put on a “brave face” after McLaren endured a nightmare start to the new campaign.
Norris suffered a pneumatic pressure leak which ended any fighting chances for the points.
Brundle explained in his Sky Sports Formula 1 column: “Possibly McLaren’s most disappointing weekend with no speed or reliability, Lando Norris was the last 17 car to finish, and Oscar Piastri forced to retire on his Formula 1 debut .
Lando put on a brave face but told me after the race that his problems with an air pressure leak, which eventually forced him to stop six times, started on the first lap.
