Don't Show Again Yes, I would!

Final compliment Luka Doncic as an NBA star compared to LeBron James | NBA | sports

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has drawn comparisons to some of the NBA’s greatest players since joining the league in 2018. Doncic’s dominating style on the ball has at times evoked James Harden, while his passing abilities are reminiscent of Larry Bird or Magic Johnson.

However, after watching the 24-year-old orchestrate a 133-126 rout against the Philadelphia 76ers that featured 40 points each for the Mavericks’ All-Star duo, NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe chose LeBron James to compare instead.

Speaking on his show Undisputed alongside Skip Bayless, the pundits saw shades of the NBA’s all-time leading point scorer as Doncic let his new teammate feel the action.

Sharpe said he could “see a lot of LeBron in Luca” and recalled how the greats would also act as a facilitator for Irving while they were both in Cleveland. “I’m 6’7, I can jump the block, I can get everything I need,” said the default Sharpe of James. LeBron would say ‘Go Kyrie because I know what I can do on the block, I can have what I’ve got. So he let Keri down and when Keri started he was like ‘Okay, now I am.

Doncic’s game of 40 points and 12 assists is certainly reminiscent of the 38-year-old at the height of his career as he put away several cents for fellow shooters. In last night’s win, the Mavericks hit an incredible 52.1% on 48 three-pointers en route to a much-needed victory.

It came after a one-possession losing streak and at least two painful last-second losses from Irving. Despite Thursday’s resounding score, there are still questions about which of the two superstars will be tasked with the final shot at game time.
