Howard Webb ‘strongly summons all Brehm referees for an emergency meeting’ after Arsenal error | football | sports

Brighton confirmed they had been contacted by PGMOL while explaining the incident. “As confirmed to the club by PGMOL last night, a fatal error was made in disallowing Pervis Estupinan’s goal at Crystal Palace yesterday,” read a statement from The Seagulls.

“The lines drawn in the VAR room to determine whether Pervis was in an offside position were drawn incorrectly, and the goal should have stood. While hugely disappointed by the error, the club has accepted PGMOL’s apology and will make no further comment.”

While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta criticized the VAR officials for failing to realize that Brentford’s goal should have been offside. “I just looked at it, and it’s offside,” Arteta said. “You can’t be banned if you’re a hacker, but that’s irrelevant, he’s gone.”
