Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be ‘furious’ at Didi Hamann after he lashed out at former Reds midfielder Pep Leanders in a series of tweets. The Merseyside giants have endured a turbulent season so far and find themselves just short of the top four in the Premier League, with just eight wins from 20 matches since the start of the campaign.
Liverpool were comfortably beaten by Wolves in their latest outing and will face a tough task in fending off a challenge from Everton on Monday night, with the Toffees looking to be on the rise following the recruitment of Sean Dyche following the sacking of Frank Lampard last month. Klopp has appeared to struggle to deal with the pressure at times in recent months, with his increasingly barbed remarks to reporters suggesting he is miffed with the possibility of Champions League qualification still out of Liverpool’s grasp.
Klopp also took issue with Hamann after the 49-year-old, who tasted European glory with the Reds in 2005, attacked Ljinders on Twitter for his decision to publish a book about the trials and tribulations of last season. Liverpool played a total of 63 games over the course of the season and came agonizingly close to an unprecedented quadruple victory, but eventually had to clinch two titles after winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
Hamann tweeted in September: “Should have rung alarm bells for Liverpool fans when the current assistant manager wrote a book while he was still working at the club. Not sure how he was allowed to do that.”

He followed up with another tweet criticizing Ljinders last month, saying: “The only question is whether the club benefited from it and the simple answer is no. His job is not to teach other coaches while getting paid by Liverpool.”
Klopp is said to have been angered by his compatriot’s views, according to The Athletic, and previously targeted the former Reds midfielder when questioned about comments he made ahead of facing Rangers in the Champions League in October.
The Liverpool manager was informed that Hamann had suggested his team needed a new spark and replied sarcastically: “Oh wow, he’s a fantastic resource, well respected everywhere. That’s it.” [playing for Liverpool] It doesn’t give you the right to say what you want especially when you have no idea.

“I actually think Didi Haman isn’t worthy of you using his phrase to ask me a question. Do me a favor and ask your question. Try asking a question without a spark word, that’s the challenge now.”
Klopp’s sensitive reaction to Hamann’s comments may have been triggered by the former midfielder’s decision to question whether or not Liverpool will reap the rewards of a change in their manager in an interview with Liverpool FC. TalkSPORT before the Rangers game.
He said: “At some point, I think we’re going to have this discussion about the manager and I’m not sure how far away we are from that. He said he still feels like he’s the right guy to do it, but I don’t see a lot of things like seeing Jordan Henderson midweek up his number and take off on He reluctantly flaps his arm and comes down, shaking his head.
“It’s something we haven’t seen at Liverpool for five years. Maybe these are a few signs that people have a few problems with the team or even the manager. The dynamics at Liverpool are no different than anywhere else and if the results don’t differ there the manager will come under pressure.”
