Tottenham star Richarlison broke down in tears after losing to Southampton due to an injury with just five minutes on the clock. The Brazilian was desperate for a first-team chance but now he could be up for a long period on the sidelines.
Richarlison’s first season in a Spurs shirt has not gone quite as well as he had hoped so far with injuries preventing him from gaining any kind of momentum. The Brazilian has not yet scored in the English Premier League with his only two goals for the club in the Champions League meeting with Marseille.
The 25-year-old was desperate to run into the first team to vent his frustration with manager Antonio Conte for leaving him out against Wolverhampton and AC Milan. However, he impressed upon his return to the squad against Nottingham Forest last weekend and a long spell in the team looked possible.
However, bad luck struck again during the clash with Southampton and he was forced off after five minutes. He may now be ready to spend more time on the sidelines as his disastrous first season in north London continues.
Richarlison has already made his frustrations clear with the season so far and has called the campaign as a whole a “***”. He had questioned why Conte had decided to drop him from the team because he had expressed his anger after the 1-0 aggregate defeat by AC Milan in the Champions League.
“This season, excuse me, it’s been great, because I don’t have minutes, I had a bit of an injury.” Richarlison told TNT Sports. “But, when I get on the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that’s it, I think I should have played and I shouldn’t have cried about it.”
